Third Floor Fish Cafe in Kirkland has two (2) happy hours. The first one is from at 4:00 to 6:00 PM and then the 2nd shift you might say, is from 9:00 to closing. Last night I went after the fantastic art gallery event at Martin Lawrence Gallery arriving around 9:30 and I was amazed at the amount of food that you get! My friend and I had "Saul's Mole Braised Ribs with Michoacan Style Coleslaw" and it was delicious and huge - and it was only $6.00. All of the appetizer's are 1/2 price during happy hours - oh and so is the wine! I got out my money thinking that it was going to be over $30 for all that we had and I left with paying "under" $20 - for two no less!!! I was sooooooo happy!!! Is that why they call it "happy hour" - LOL! Oh and the guys behind me had the "Joshinator" - it's a massive 1/2 lb. handcrafted burger w/roasted garlic, balsamic glazed onions, Beechers' Flagship Cheese and oven roasted tomatoes served on a Brioche roll - I'm getting that next time too! Yum!

The Third Floor Fish Cafe has the three things a Kirkland restaurant is supposed to have: Location (as in downtown Kirkland, which is trying to become Carmel North), view (as in Lake Washington in the afternoon sun) and food, as in good food which, in its absence, would make the other two irrelevant.
The cafe must be doing something right. It's been at the same location for 10 years, a long time by upscale restaurant standards, and its appeal shows no signs of disappearing.
As its name indicates, it specializes in seafood, which is one of the more challenging forms of cooking around. read more...

Fish Cafe's Greg Campbell keeps the spotlight on snazzy preparations
The Third Floor Fish Cafe is a high-end waterfront restaurant, Kirkland-style. That means the spectacular view from the tiered seats is, of course, westward across Lake Washington, taking in the downtown Seattle skyline and long, lingering summer sunsets.And it means a fairly casual ambience to go with the upscale cuisine and pricey wines, with lots of diners in polo shirts amid the dark polished wood, and no white linen in sight. read more...

Take The Third Floor for superior fish
Are the people of Kirkland directionally challenged? I ask this question because I've noticed a few restaurants in the waterfront/downtown area have named their restaurants more or less after their location.
What am I yammering about? Well, for starters 21 Central, the posh downtown steakhouse, shares its name with its address. And the Third Floor Fish Cafe gives patrons the particulars about its location in its name.
Not that I'm criticizing. It's actually quite a good marketing ploy. At least you're assured your patrons won't get that lost on their way to dinner. read more...
